TAC 2026 - Short Course and Annual Conference

The TAC 2026 short course and conference will be held from 30th March to 1st April 2026
University of Reading, Whiteknights Campus, Reading, RG6 6UR

TAC Short course: Introduction to Thermal Methods

Join us for the popular short course presented by members of the Thermal Methods Group on Monday 30th March 2026, just before the main TAC 2026 conference.

This day will explore a of both conventional and unconventional thermoanalytical techniques, addressing both theoretical concepts and practical applications. While a detailed program is still in development, topics such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), evolved gas analysis (EGA), thermomechanical analysis (TMA), dynamic thermomechanical analysis (DMA), dielectric measurements (DEA), calorimetry, and thermomicroscopy are all anticipated.

Participants will enjoy networking and refreshment breaks, providing ample opportunities for discussions with experienced course speakers who specialise in applying thermal techniques to material characterisation. The session will conclude with a Q&A panel, encouraging questions to support your analysis or challenges.

TAC 2026 - Advances in Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry â€‹â€‹

Following the success of the 60th Anniversary Conference TAC 2025 at the University of Surrey, the Thermal Methods Group invites all members, old and new, to reconnect and share their advancements at our annual TAC conference, this year hosted by the University of Reading between the 31st March and 1st April 2026.

As always, we expect a variety of outstanding talks, with growing interest in Pharmaceuticals, Biopharma, and Food sectors already noted. Please stay tuned for updates on the agenda as we aim to include popular topics such as Security and Energetic Materials, Advanced Materials and Polymers, Energy, and Life Sciences.

Continuing from last year's success, the TMG will again feature a dedicated Early Careers Session (ECS), highlighting the work of emerging analysts.

The conference will also feature brief presentations from manufacturers of thermal analysis equipment and supporting instrumentation, a manufacturers exhibition, and poster presentations.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the conference. At the end of the first day, all attendees are invited to a dedicated conference dinner for an evening of networking.
